Sierra Nevada, Spain

About The Resort

The Sierra Nevada ski resort of Granada in southeastern Spain is on the northwestern slopes of Veleta, the third highest peak in peninsular Spain and the most southerly ski resort of Europe.

Only 17 miles away, Granada is the capital city of the province of Granada and is located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Granada is also located at the confluence of four rivers, the Darro, the Genil, the Monachil, and the Beiro.

Because of its high elevation, the skiing season can last from late November until early May. With abundant snow, it is possible to ski almost anywhere on the mountain, as the whole resort is above the tree line. Mainly catering to locals, and less to people visiting for a whole week, it is much busier at weekends.
